  • Shopping Cart Information: Details necessary to process and fulfill orders from our online shop, such as items purchased and shipping preferences.
  • Application Information: Details provided in volunteer or support applications (handled with the utmost discretion and stored securely).

B. Data Collected Through Website Interaction

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email address (called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

2. How We Use Your Information

Articles and pages on this site may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles, etc.) from other websites. Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website directly.

  • Embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, especially if you have an account and are logged in to that external website.

5. Sharing and Retention of Your Data

A. Who We Share Your Data With

Hope for Cancer Kids (HCK) does not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.

We only share your information in limited circumstances:

  • Service Providers: We use trusted third-party services for functions like payment processing, email delivery, and website hosting.
  • Legal Compliance: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law.
  • Password Reset: If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
  • Data Location: Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

B. How Long We Retain Your Data

  • Comments: If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
  • Registered Users: For users that register on our website (if available), we store the personal information they provide in their user profile indefinitely.
  • Other Data: Other personal data related to donations and transactions is retained for as long as necessary to fulfill our charitable mission, comply with legal requirements (e.g., tax records), and resolve disputes.

6. Payment Security (Donations and Shopping Cart)

Your financial security is extremely important to us.

  • When you make a donation or purchase an item via our shopping cart, your transaction is processed through a secure, third-party payment gateway.
  • HCK does not store your full credit card number, CVV code, or any other sensitive payment card data on our servers.

7. Your Rights Over Your Data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you have the following rights:

  • Access: You can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us.
  • Correction/Deletion: All registered users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you.
  • Limitations: This right to erasure does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

HCK may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the “Last Updated” date at the top.
