Pillar 4: Capacity Building

Psychosocial Support for everyone

A cancer diagnosis is terrifying for a child and their family. We build the capacity of families to cope and provide children with a vital escape from the trauma of treatment.

Flagship Art Therapy Program

In 2025, Hope for Cancer Kids provided 96 hours of weekly art sessions for children undergoing cancer treatment. Through art, children have a space to create, express themselves and experience moments of joy and normalcy during their treatment journey. Every session gives them the opportunity to be children first — exploring their creativity, building confidence and connecting with others through art.

Caregiver Support Groups

We provide counselling and facilitated talk sessions to support caregivers as they navigate the emotional and practical challenges of their child’s cancer journey. These sessions provide a safe space to share experiences, ask questions, learn coping strategies and connect with others who understand what they are going through.
We also recognise the emotional demands placed on our own team. Through counselling and staff talk sessions, we provide our team with space to process difficult experiences, support one another and build healthy coping mechanisms.

Moments of Joy

We create opportunities for children and families to celebrate through festive parties and special events throughout the year. These moments offer a welcome break from the routines of treatment and give families an opportunity to relax, connect and simply enjoy being together. Would you like to help create more moments of joy? Your support helps us organise celebrations and activities that give children and their families something special to look forward to.
